The Deputy Principal as a member of the senior management and middle management teams will work collaboratively with the Principal and those teams to address all priority management areas and to ensure consistent leadership in the school.
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
• Proven leadership skills, including policy development and implementation.
• Previous teaching experience across a range of classes including SEN
• Proven ability to work as a member of a team in a collaborative manner.
• Ability to promote a culture of learning and creativity in the school.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the wider school community.
• Willingness to undertake Continuous Professional Development.
• Ability to support mentoring programmes and initiatives.
The appointment will be made under the terms of Circular 0044/2019. To be eligible for consideration candidates must be fully registered with the Teaching Council under Route 1 - Primary - and must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.
The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains outlined within “Looking at our School 2022: A Quality Framework for Primary Schools” and assessment of suitability for the post will be in these areas as set down by the Department of Education.
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
Appointment will be subject, but not limited to:
• Satisfactory references
• Current & continuing Teaching Council registration
• Current Garda Vetting requirements
• Occupational Health screening
Shortlisting will apply and only those shortlisted will be contacted for interview.
