The Board of Management of Aghamore N.S., Co. Mayo invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Principal Teacher, to take effect from 23rd February, 2026.
Aghamore NS is a Catholic School under the patronage of the Archbishop of Tuam.
Aghamore NS, is a co-educational, vertical, mainstream school, with 4 class teachers, 2 support teachers and 3 Special Needs Assistants. We also have a secretary and cleaner.

Applications are invited from fully registered teachers (under Route 1 (Primary) with the Teaching Council), and have minimum 5 years recognised teaching service , two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.

The successful candidate will demonstrate :
- An understanding of and commitment to the Catholic ethos of Aghamore National School and an ability to support and promote school-parish links.
- An in-depth knowledge of the Primary school curriculum and a broad range of
teaching experience.
- A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and of
inclusion and diversity in education.
- Excellent management and communication skills.
- A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant professional development
-Proven leadership skills.
-Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school-based initiatives.
-In-depth knowledge and experience of the primary curriculum at different levels and evidence of involvement in facilitating positive change through the school self-evaluation process (SSE).
-Knowledge and capacity to successfully lead and administer a school.
-Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload.
- A clear and definite understanding of the four domains for leadership and
management in a school as set out in ' Looking At Our Schools 2022 - A Quality
Framework.'

Appointment is subject to current Garda Vetting, proof of Teaching Council Registration, satisfactory references, Occupational Health Screening and the approval of the Patron.
