Panel of Applicants:
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
St. Peter's N.S. is a rural Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Diocese of Tuam. Applicants must have a recognised Certificate to teach Religious Education.
St. Peter's N.S. has twelve mainstream class teachers, five Special Education Teachers and six Special Needs Assistants.
Applications are invited from fully qualified teachers with at least five years teaching experience, who are registered with the Teaching Council (Route 1 Primary), for the permanent position of Principal Teacher.
Specific roles and responsibilities for this position relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management as specified in circular 0044/2019
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
Applicants for this position should demonstrate:
• An understanding and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic Primary School.
• Leadership, management and administration skills in a primary school setting.
• A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant professional
development.
• An in-depth knowledge of the primary school curriculum and a broad range of
teaching experience.
• Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative school initiatives with a focus on leading teaching and learning.
• Excellent communication skills and experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload
• Experience in formulation, implementation and evaluation of school policies
• Ability to work collaboratively with all staff members, Board of Management,
Parents and the wider School Community.
Candidates called for interview will be required to provide proof of qualifications and teaching Council registration.
Appointment is subject to current Garda vetting requirements, proof of teaching council registration, satisfactory references, occupational health screening, proof of qualifications and approval of the patron.
Canvassing will lead to disqualification
