An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

St. John’s National School Kenmare is actively seeking to recruit a School Transport Bus Escort.
We require a bus escort to accompany a pupil with ASD on the school bus. This position will require availability to work 5 days per week for 2 hrs minimum per day.

The escort should be available between 8.15 am - 9:20 am in the mornings and between 1.40pm – 2.30pm in the afternoons (subject to change).

The hourly rate of pay is €13.40 per hour, in line with the Department of Education guidelines for school bus escorts.

Good communication skills are essential and experience of caring for/working with children with additional needs is desirable. The successful candidate will be:
 Responsible for assisting pupils in and out of the bus and to ensure pupils' safety when travelling
 Responsible for observing and supervising pupils while travelling
 Responsible for communication between home and school.
 Observe confidentiality in all aspects of work.
