St Columba's NS is a co-educational, multi-grade national school with 4 classroom teachers, including teaching principal, 1 full-time and one shared special education teacher, 3 special needs assistants and a part time secretary.

The school is under the patronage of the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin. The school is a community where all children are equally valued and respected and provides a climate in which children and staff experience a sense of caring and belonging. We also have strong links with the Parish of Drumcondra, North Strand & St Barnabas.

We welcome applicants for the post of Principal, who are fully registered (Route 1) with the Teaching Council of Ireland, have 5 years recognised teaching service, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.

Roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management, as specified in Department of Education (DES) Circular 0044/2019:

1. Leading teaching and learning.
2. Managing the organisation.
3. Leading school development.
4. Developing leadership capacity.

In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

- an in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and show a range of teaching experience, including multi-grade teaching,
- understanding and knowledge of Special Educational Needs, inclusion and diversity in education,
- excellent people management and communication skills with an ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents/guardians, staff, the parish and the wider community,
- a commitment to and evidence of, relevant continuing professional development, and
- an understanding of and commitment to the school's Church of Ireland ethos and an ability to support and promote school/parish links.

The appointment is subject to the confirmation of qualifications, Teaching Council registration, Garda vetting, occupational health requirements, satisfactory references and Patron's approval.
