An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

St. Ita’s Special National School, Drogheda is a school for pupils with a Mild and Moderate general learning disability and multiple disabilities including Autism, ADHD, hearing and visual impairment. There are currently 22 teachers and 26 SNAs in the school. The school caters for children from 5 to 18 years of age.
There are 3 permanent positions and 1 Fixed Term until the end of August 2025.
We believe that co-operation, courtesy and team work are essential for an effective school and for the personal and educational development of our pupils.
We are looking for SNAs who show interest in each of our student's educational and personal development. It is essential to have experience in a special education setting preferably in a special school and that the successful candidate will have the necessary skills to work with pupils who have complex profiles. This appointment requires somebody who demonstrates flexibility, is a team player, has a calm disposition, is confident in dealing with behaviours that challenge, has supervision skills and shows initiative.
Experience in essential competencies include assistance with: personal hygiene/toileting; FEDS(feeding,eating,drinking and swallowing); hoisting, behaviours that challenge; Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, PECS, Occupational Therapy and associated programmes. Experience in the use of ipads, computer programmes, switches, interactive whiteboards and Lamh sign language is desirable
