An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
The role advertised is for two Special Needs Assistants in an infant class (initially)for pupils with Autism. This will be an infant day 0.83 post.
Candidates must be willing to uphold the ethos of the school. They must show a willingness to be involved in school activities, always respecting the dignity and confidentiality of the pupils and be willing to undertake CPD courses which relate to the needs of the children and the school.
Candidates must be able to work well as part of a team, be flexible, and display a strong work ethic. Experience and/or training in working with children with autism and emotional behavioural difficulties is desirable.
Any additional qualifications in additional needs/ first aid/ positive handling/ positive behaviour/support strategies/PECS/autism Courses etc would be advantageous.
An interest in TEACCH, LÁMH, augmentative communication and life skills would also be beneficial.
In addition to accessing the curriculum, duties may include assisting with eating and intimate care, administering medications, dressing; assisting in the swimming pool, sports, and other educational outings.
The initial duties may change according to the care needs of the pupils.
The appointment is subject to current Garda vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening and completion of the TUSLA Children First online training.
Applicants must satisfy all DES appointment criteria.
This posts is subject to review by the DES/NCSE.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified by email if called to interview. Interviews will be held in person only on or after 7th August 2024.
