An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

The Board of Management of St John’s special school initially advertised this permanent vacancy on this website on the 5th of July 2024 for teachers listed on the Supplementary Panel for the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore. The closing date for receipt of expressions of interest was the 11th of July 2024 . The closing date for submission of expressions of interest from teachers on the relevant Supplementary Panel was extended by advertisement on this website to the 15th day of July, 2024. The Board of Management is now proceeding to fill this permanent vacancy through open competition.
St. John's is a special school for pupils with special educational needs, aged 4-18. All pupils have complex learning needs and an intellectual disability ranging from Mild, Moderate to Severe to Profound.
The class teacher positions will require a suitably qualified individual who is willing to work in classrooms where children will have complex special educational needs.
