Scoil Phádraig National School, Drumkeen (roll no 17057A) is a Catholic school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Raphoe. The Board of Management of Scoil Phádraig, Drumkeen invites applications for the position of teaching principal. This is a permanent position commencing on the 26th August 2024 and the application will be made via open competition under the terms of circular 0044/2019.
The present staff comprises of five mainstream class teachers (including the principal) with 2 special educational teachers, 3.83 special needs assistants and 3 ancillary staff (secretary, caretaker and cleaner).
Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria: Fully registered under Route 1 (Primary) with the Teaching Council, be fully garda vetted, have a recognised qualification to teach religious education and have 5 years recognised teaching service two of which must be in a school within the Republic of Ireland.
The roles and responsibilities for this position are determined by the four domains of leadership and management taken from “Looking at our School 2022 – a Quality Framework for Primary Schools and Special Schools”
1. Leading, teaching and learning
2. Managing the organisation
3. Leading school development
4. Developing leadership capacity
In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
• An understanding and commitment to the school's Catholic ethos and an ability to support and promote school/parish links.
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a range of teaching experience.
• Understanding and knowledge of Special Education Needs, inclusion and diversity in education.
• Excellent people management and communication skills and an ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
