Cappabue N.S. is a Rural Deis, vertical, co-educational, primary school under the Patronage of the Bishop of Cork and Ross, Bishop Fintan Gavin. The Board of Management of Cappabue N.S. invites applications for the position of Teaching Deputy Principal commencing on 02/10/2024.
The present teaching staff comprises: 1 Principal, 1 Deputy Principal and is the base school for
1 Special Education Teacher (shared), 1 Principal Release Day teacher (shared) and 1 part time S.N.A.
This school is a child-centred, happy and safe environment where all the children are encouraged to learn and grow to the best of their individual strengths and abilities.
The Deputy Principal will work in collaboration with the Principal to ensure that all students have a positive educational experience, that there is strong leadership across the school and that the school fully conforms to the governance structures as set out by the Department of Education & Skills.
The roles and responsibilities for the post are set out in the four domains of Leadership and Management as specified in DoE Circular 0044/2019, Chapter 4.

1. Leading Teaching and Learning.
2. Managing the Organisation.
3. Leading School Development.
4. Developing Leadership Capacity.

In addition, the following skills are desirable:
• Proven leadership skills, including policy development and implementation and prioritising, planning and organising
• Evidence of continuing and relevant professional development
• Organisational capabilities in managing school resources
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and previous teaching experience across a range of classes
• Ability to manage and work collaboratively with all staff members and the Board of Management.
• An ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, the Board of Management and wider school community.
• Understanding and knowledge of Special Educational Needs, inclusion and diversity in education
• An understanding and a commitment to the school’s Catholic ethos.
The appointment will be subject to current vetting requirements and occupational health screening.
