An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Drumcondra National School is a co-educational Church of Ireland school under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin. The school has a strong link with the Parish of Drumcondra, North Strand & St Barnabas, is child-centred and inclusive, and has 70 children on the roll.

The staff include 3 mainstream teachers, 1 full-time Special Education teacher, 2 full-time SNAs (1 post is job-share), a part-time school secretary, a part-time cleaner and a part-time hot lunch operative.

This position is a permanent teaching principal post in a multi-grade school setting beginning on 28th August 2024. Applicants must be registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland (Route 1 – Primary).

The roles and responsibilities of the post of Principal Teacher are determined by the four domains of Leadership and Management as set out in chapter 4 of Circular 0044/2019:

1 Leading Teaching and Learning
2 Managing the Organisation
3 Leading School Development
4 Developing Leadership Capacity

In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

• an in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a range of teaching experience,
• understanding and knowledge of Special Education Needs, inclusion and diversity in education,
• excellent people management and communication skills and an ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, the parish and the wider community,
• a commitment to and evidence of, relevant continuing professional development,
• an understanding of and a commitment to the school’s Church of Ireland ethos and an ability to support and promote school/parish links.

The appointment is subject to the confirmation of qualifications, Teaching Council registration, Garda vetting, occupational health requirements (Medmark) and satisfactory references.
