Additional Information:
The Board of Management of St. Oliver Plunkett NS invites applications for the position of permanent Deputy Principal (Acting Principal for the first year initially). This is a permanent position and the appointment will be made under the terms of Circular 0044/2019.
St. Oliver Plunkett NS is a rural, vertical Catholic primary school in the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin. Bishop Denis Nulty is its Patron. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a commitment to continue to lead and strengthen the Catholic ethos of the school. Applications must be fully registered with The Teaching Council and have a recognised qualification to teach religion in a Catholic School.
The current enrolment in St. Oliver Plunkett N.S. is 97 students. The highly motivated staff includes 4 Mainstream class teachers, 1 Full-time SET teacher and 1 Shared SET Teacher, 1 SNA, 1 part-time secretary , 1 caretaker and 1 cleaner.

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
• Sound knowledge of the Primary School Curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience
• A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and inclusion
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven leadership skills
• A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant professional development
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school activities
• The capacity to successfully lead and administer a school
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload
• Previous experience in policy development
• An understanding of School Self-Evaluation and long term strategic planning for the development of the school
• A commitment to shared leadership and a willingness to delegate, develop leadership capacity and empower others
*Evidence of an understanding of DEIS and its implementation
