Lead coordinating teacher in new ASD Special Classroom opening in September 2019. Experience of teaching in an ASD Special Classroom is required.

The successful candidate will:
Display leadership and management skills with a clear focus on establishing, along with senior management, a vision for the coordination of the new ASD Special Classroom in St. Dominic's College.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the nature of ASD, the implications for teaching and the impact the co-occurring special educational needs can have on educational assessment and teaching.
Convey specific knowledge in assessing, planning and providing an appropriate curriculum for students with ASD.
Show awareness of appropriate evidence informed teaching interventions that are selected on the basis of individualised assessment and monitoring of these approaches in terms of educational outcomes for students with ASD. Be willing to disseminate this information to the staff of St. Dominic's College at team meetings.
Be competent in undertaking functional assessments of behaviour and planning and implementing behavioural programmes to enable the students to self-regulate their behaviour and to manage challenging behaviours when they arise.
Have requisite knowledge to teach functional communication skills.
Appreciate the importance of liaising with parents and developing clear systems of communication, planning and recording to assist in developing positive relationships and in providing continuity between home and school.
Have excellent administrative and interpersonal skills to ensure the smooth coordination of the new ASD Special Classroom.
