Bus/Taxi Escort – Role and Responsibilities
Bus Escorts must be available in the mornings and afternoons daily during school term, in line with our school calendar.
The Bus/Taxi Escort is responsible for the safety and care of pupil(s) travelling on the bus or in the taxi. Duties include:
* Assisting pupils in and out of the vehicle
* Maintaining a calm, supportive and safe environment during the journey.
* Ensuring appropriate seatbelts and car seats are secured
* Liaising professionally with drivers, parents and teachers
* Communicating about pick-ups, drop-offs and traffic delays
Relevant experience working with children, particularly children with additional educational needs is desirable. Bus Escorts are subject to Garda Vetting requirements and completion of the Tusla Children First E-Learning 1 hour online Course.
The rate of pay is €15.98 per hour, in line with the Department of Education rate for this position, which is subject to change.
The escort will accompany pupil(s) on their morning journey from home, arriving at school by 9am and on the return journey after collection from school at 2.40pm.
It is a requirement to hold a valid Statutory Declaration and to complete the Form of Undertaking for this position upon offer of employment.
