The Board of Management of Scoil Mhuire na Trócaire Primary School, under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Armagh, invites applications for the position of Administrative Principal Teacher (permanent) commencing on Monday 30th November 2026.
Scoil Mhuire na Trócaire is a child-centred, happy, vibrant and inclusive school committed to providing a high-quality, holistic education for all pupils. Inspired by the Mercy ethos, the school promotes the values of care, respect and joy in all aspects of school life. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to these values and to fostering the positive, collaborative and supportive learning environment that currently exists within the school community.
The Principal will lead a dedicated and collaborative staff and will work closely with the Board of Management, parents and the wider school community to ensure the continued development and success of the school. The Leadership and Management Team currently consists of the Principal, Deputy Principal, Assistant Principal I post holder and four Assistant Principal II post holders, working collaboratively with the staff comprising 14 mainstream class teachers, 4.5 SETs, an EAL teacher, a shared HSCL and 7 SNAs.
The roles and responsibilities of this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as outlined in DES Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
Applicants must have:
• Current full registration with the Teaching Council (Route 1 – Primary)
• A minimum of five years’ recognised teaching experience
• A recognised Certificate to teach Religious Education
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• A clear and ambitious vision for high-quality teaching and learning and a strong understanding of the Primary Curriculum Framework
• An understanding of and commitment to the school’s Catholic ethos and the Mercy tradition
• A strong commitment to inclusive and child-centred education
• Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and proven organisational skills
• Proven leadership and management experience within a school setting
• Experience in school self-evaluation, policy development and school improvement planning
• Capacity to successfully lead and administer a school, including the ability to prioritise, plan and organise workloads effectively
• Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and foster very positive relationships with staff members, Board of Management, parents and guardians and the wider school community
