Kilmainhamwood National School is seeking applications for a 1.00 Full-Time Special Needs Assistant (SNA) Post.

We are seeking enthusiastic, flexible and committed applicants who are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, special education teachers and the wider school team to support pupils with additional care needs and enable them to participate fully in all aspects of school life.

The role will involve supporting more than one pupil during the school day. The successful candidate must be committed to promoting pupil independence, dignity, inclusion and wellbeing, while providing appropriate support for educational, social, emotional, behavioural, personal care and medical needs.

The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work across the school, depending on the needs of pupils and the school. Deployment may be changed at any stage at the Principal's discretion.

QQI Level 5/6 is desirable, and the successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to undertaking further relevant professional development and training. Relevant additional training, such as First Aid, positive behaviour support, or trauma-informed practice, is desirable. Experience of supporting children with autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, sensory processing differences, communication needs, emotional regulation needs and behaviours of concern is desirable.

The SNA post is allocated by the NCSE and is subject to review.

Appointment will be subject to, but not limited to, satisfactory references and Garda Vetting requirements. Occupational Health screening requirements and completion of Children First online training.
