O’Callaghan’s Mills National School is a small, welcoming Catholic primary school at the heart of its community. We provide a caring and inclusive learning environment where every child is known and valued. The Board of Management invites applications from suitably qualified teachers for the position of Deputy Principal.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate will:

Be fully registered with the Teaching Council under Route 1 (Primary).
Hold a recognised qualification to teach Religious Education in a Catholic primary school.
Demonstrate a commitment to the Catholic ethos and characteristic spirit of the school.
Demonstrate strong leadership potential, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively, show initiative and contribute positively as part of a small school community.
Demonstrate professionalism, discretion and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and the wider school community.

Experience or Interest in the following areas will be desirable:

Evidence of engagement in ongoing CPD in school leadership and management.
Multi-grade teaching, SEN, inclusive practice and pupil wellbeing.
School Self-Evaluation, policy development, school improvement and curriculum development, including the Primary Curriculum Framework.
A genuine grá for Gaeilge and a commitment to promoting Irish as a living, spoken language throughout the school community.
Music and the arts, with a willingness to contribute to the creative and cultural life of the school.
Sport and physical activity, with an enthusiasm for encouraging participation and healthy, active lifestyles.
STEM and other areas of school development.

The successful candidate will be committed to working with the Principal, Board of Management, staff, parents and wider community in shaping the continued growth and future development of our school.
