Malahide Portmarnock Educate Together Secondary School (MPETSS) invites applications from enthusiastic and suitably qualified candidates for a Special Needs Assistant (SNA) Career Break Cover Position.
1 Full-Time Fixed-Term Post (32 Hours per Week)
The successful candidate will work as part of the school team in supporting the care needs of pupils with special educational needs, in accordance with the duties and responsibilities of Special Needs Assistants as determined by the Department of Education and Youth.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the minimum educational requirements for appointment as a Special Needs Assistant as prescribed by the Department of Education and Youth.
The successful candidate will be required to comply with all applicable requirements relating to Garda Vetting, child safeguarding, references and occupational health, as appropriate.
Desirable Skills and Experience
The following competencies and experience would be advantageous:
Experience working as an SNA or working with children and young people with additional care needs.
Experience supporting pupils with a variety of special educational needs.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with teachers, SNAs, school management, parents/guardians and other relevant professionals.
Strong care, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
An understanding of the role of the SNA and the importance of promoting pupils' independence, dignity, inclusion and participation in school life.
Relevant additional training or qualifications appropriate to the needs of the school and pupils.
Specific competencies and/or requirements associated with the care needs of the pupil(s) supported by this post will form part of the selection process.
