An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
St. John of God Special school is looking for applications for Bus Escort substitutes for a number of routes around Islandbridge, Ballyfermot, Clondalkin, Tallaght, Drimnagh, Crumlin and Finglas. Most routes take from two to four hours daily and transport students with a wide range of special needs. Applicants need to be available in the morning before school and in the afternoon. The current hourly rate, set by the Department of Education, is €15.66 per hour.
Duties will include escorting children to and from St John of God Special School, assisting children to board and alight safely from the school transport, ensuring that all children are seated with appropriate straps and harnesses where provided and ensuring that each pupil is received by some responsible person at the set down point. Previous experience working with children with special needs would be an advantage but is not essential. All Bus Escort will have to be Garda vetted by the school.
