Knockadea NS is seeking applications from suitable candidates who are willing to contribute to the overall development of the school and are cognisant that elements of the role will require working outside of the standard school day.
The following fixed-term positions are available but class allocation is subject to change at the discretion of the principal:
- Junior & Senior Infants Mainstream Class Teacher
- 1st & 2nd Mainstream Class Teacher
The successful candidate must be available for induction on the 25th August ahead of the school reopening on Wednesday, 26th August 2026.
The following skills, knowledge and dispositions are highly desirable:
- Knowledge and familiarity implementing the Special Education Guidelines and Indicators of Effective Practice and the role of the mainstream class teacher in supporting the work of the SET
- A comprehensive knowledge and clear understanding of the application of the continuum of support in primary schools
- Evidence of familiarity and understanding of the diverse needs of pupils in schools (ASD, Down Syndrome, Speech & Language, literacy, numeracy, social emotional, EAL, etc.) and the application of best practices in teaching, learning and assessment
- Clear understanding and experience implementing the principles of UDL within a mainstream setting
- Evidence of CPD and a commitment to completing CPD in line with the needs of the school
- A knowledge of the Primary Curriculum Framework and the implications for practice in teaching, learning and assessment
- A clearly demonstrated commitment to teamwork, the promotion of student voice, working in partnership with parents and the fostering of student wellbeing
- Expertise in the area of Music or STEM & Digital Learning or Physical Education & School Sport along with clear examples of how you have applied your skills in primary schools or other areas
The Standard Application Form and a copy of your Certificate in Religious Education (Validated evidence of completion of certificate pending award will be sufficient e.g. letter from course provider, copy of transcripts) should be submitted by email to applications@knockadeans.com and must be received by 15:00 on the 17th of July 2026.
Appointment and employment will be subject to continuing Teaching Council registration, current Garda Vetting requirements, occupational health screening and satisfactory references.
