The Board of Management of Zion Parish Primary School, Rathgar, Dublin 6, invites applications for the position of Deputy Principal. This is a permanent teaching position, and it is envisaged that initial teaching duties would be in a mainstream classroom.
Under Circular 0044/2019, the eligilibilty criteria for this role are: Fully registered under Route 1 (Primary) with the Teaching Council and have 5 years recognised teaching service, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.
The Deputy Principal will assist the Principal in leading a dedicated and collaborative staff, and will work closely with the Board of Management, parents and the wider school community to ensure the continued development and success of the school. A core function of the Deputy Principal’s role is to act or deputise as the Principal in the Principal’s absence.
The roles and responsibilities of the post relate to the four domains of teaching and learning as outlined in Circular 0044/2019 and Looking At Our Schools (updated 2024):
Leading teaching and learning
Managing the organisation
Leading school development
Developing leadership capacity
As the needs of the school continuously evolve, a review of duties may result in reassignment of responsibilities within the leadership and management team.
