This position is a permanent, full-time post in a class for children with ASD and complex needs. Experience of working with children who have Autism is essential for this post. Experience of working in a special class for children with ASD will be a distinct advantage.
The successful candidate must be:
• flexible and responsive to the needs of the children and the school
• energetic, enthusiastic, can contribute to our team, work on his/her own initiative and have a high level of interpersonal skills
• demonstrate a strong knowledge of Autism and experience of positive behaviour support strategies
• Show a willingness to adapt, learn and co-operate with others
• willing to undertake CPD courses which relate to the needs of the children in the class & the school.
• Familiar with a variety of forms of language including the use of visuals and AAC devices
• Willing to foster, create and maintain open and rich relationships with children, parents and co-workers
