An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

St. Gabriel’s is a Special School for 64 pupils aged 4-18 years of age who experience a primary complex physical disability and/ or complex medical needs. Many of our students have also been assessed as having moderate, severe/ profound learning disabilities. Most classes have a team of 1 teacher and 3 SNAs to help cater for the elevated level of need.

Promoting students’ communication and access to the curriculum is an ongoing focus for the school. The school is growing a total communication approach and developing the use of assistive technology. Experience of teaching in a special school will be considered highly desirable as will leading a team of SNAs and managing a programme of student support.
The school is located next to, and has a close working relationship with, the St. Gabriel’s Foundation.
