Are you a passionate and caring Special Needs Assistant (SNA) looking to make a real difference in young people’s lives?
Linn Dara Schools invites applications from dynamic, dedicated, and compassionate applicants for the role of Special Needs Assistant (SNA) in our unique and rewarding school community.
To support our expanding inpatient provision, we are seeking to fill one permanent Special Needs Assistant (SNA) post for the upcoming 2026/27 academic year.
The successful SNA candidate will be appointed for the new National Children’s Hospital Ireland (NCHI) CAMHS School, located on the shared campus at St James’s Hospital, Dublin 8*
*Note: This role will be initially based at Linn Dara Approved Centre, Dublin 10 until training components for the NCHI begin later in the autumn term.
*Position Details*
Role: Full-Time (32 hours / 5 days) Permanent Special Needs Assistant (SNA)
Minimum requirements:
1. A FETAC level 3 major qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications,
OR
2. A minimum of three grade Ds in the Junior Certificate,
OR
3. Equivalent.
The post is subject to conditions of employment as set out by the Department of Education and Youth regulations, Patron approval, Garda Vetting, and candidates achieving a minimum standard at interview.
The appointment will also be subject to reference checks and Occupational Health Screening.

Linn Dara Schools are multi-denominational specialist hospital schools under the patronage of the Health Service Executive (HSE). We provide high-quality education that supports recovery and wellbeing for pupils admitted to Linn Dara CAMHS Approved Centre and outpatients of Linn Dara CAMHS Community and other South Dublin teams.
*Our existing Schools* - both inpatient and outpatient - are based within the Cherry Orchard Hospital Campus, offering a vibrant and supportive multidisciplinary environment where education and care come together to help young people re-engage, rebuild, and thrive.
*Our new School expansion* - will be based in the CAMHS unit in the new National Children’s Hospital Ireland (NCHI) providing educational continuity and a school experience for the 20 new beds opening there later this year.

Successful candidates are expected to perform the full range of duties for an SNA, as outlined in Department of Education and Youth (DEY) and National Council for Special Education (NCSE) guidelines.
*Desirable (but not essential):*
• Knowledge and experience of, or qualifications in working with teenagers
• Knowledge and experience of working in a special class or a special school setting.
• Evidence of a working within a reflective and collaborative team approach
• A genuine commitment to inclusive education.
