Sonas Special Junior Primary School is a school for Autistic children with Complex Needs aged 3-6 years old under the patronage of the Brothers of Charity. The school seeks to appoint an Administrative Principal beginning on September 1st 2026.
Sonas is a state of the art school purpose designed to meet the needs of its wonderful pupils. We are a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused school that creates a nurturing environment for pupils to thrive and reach their potential.
The Principal will lead a highly trained, dedicated and collaborative staff and will work closely with the Board of Management, parents and the wider school community to ensure the continued development and success of the school.
The roles and responsibilities of the post relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management as outlined in DES Circular 0044/2019:
Leading Teaching and Learning
Managing the Organisation
Leading School Development
Developing Leadership Capacity
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Excellent knowledge and experience of SEN
Strong leadership skills
An indepth knowledge of the curriculum and how this can be implemented to best effect in Sonas
Evidence of ongoing professional development
Have at least 5 years teaching experience in a Special Education setting
Experience in school improvement planning, school self-evaluation and policy development
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
A clear and and ambitious vision for high quality teaching and learning in Sonas
Experience in the development, implementation, management and evaluation of innovative school initiatives
The appointment will be subject to, but not limited to satisfactory references, current and continuing Teaching Council Registration, current vetting requirements and Occupational Health Screening.
A minimum of three eligible applications are required for this competition to proceed.
