St. Brigid's National School, Aughnafarcon is a vibrant, rural co-educational primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Clogher. Currently there are 37 pupils on roll. The present staff comprises of a teaching principal, a teaching deputy principal, 1 full time SET and 1 full time SNA.
The successful candidate will be a leader who is committed to the ethos of Catholic education and will lead the school in partnership with the Board of Management, staff, parents and the wider community to ensure the continued development and success of the school.
The roles and responsibilities of this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in DES circular 0044/2019 Chapter 4:
1. Leading Teaching & Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
A clear understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic primary school.
A clear and ambitious vision for high-quality teaching and learning, and a strong commitment to inclusive and child-centred education.
Strong leadership skills and experience in managing people.
An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a range of teaching experience including multi-class settings.
A willingness to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships with all members of the school community.
A willingness and ability to work in partnership with external agencies.
Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of school-based initiatives especially in the area of art, music, drama, and sport.
A commitment to and evidence of continuing professional development especially in the area of school leadership.
Proven ability to work as part of a team and to foster leadership in others.
A strong commitment to St. Brigid's National School's values of kindness and respect.
