The Board of Management of Dominican College, Galway, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support, Home Economics and RE Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to provide targeted support, ensuring that all students, particularly those with additional learning needs, reach their full potential.
This contract is for 10 hours per week, to commence on 27th August 2026 and continue until the end of the 2026/27 academic year.

Key Responsibilities:
• Teach Learning Support, Home Economics and Religious Education classes as allocated.
• Provide in-class, small group, and individual support to students with additional learning needs. `
• Be a core member of the Learning Support, Home Economics and Religion departments
• Carry out
• Collaborate with subject teachers to differentiate lessons and assessments where appropriate.
• Monitor and assess student progress and contribute to student support planning.
• Promote an inclusive, positive, and engaging learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and other relevant stakeholders regarding student progress and wellbeing.
• Participate fully in the life of the school and contribute to the school’s ethos and co-curricular activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
• A relevant teaching qualification as per Teaching Council regulations of the day.
• Registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland in the relevant subject areas.
• Experience teaching and supporting SEN students on a one-to-one, small group, and team teaching basis.
• Experience teaching Home Economics and/or Religious Education is desirable.
• An SEN and/or EAL qualification is desirable but not essential.
• A strong understanding of inclusive education and differentiated teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, teamworking, and organisational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively with students.
• A professional approach and the ability to work co-operatively and effectively with colleagues to develop positive professional relationships.
• A commitment to continual professional learning and development.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A willingness to contribute positively to the wider school community and ethos.
