Additional Information:
Abacas Special School, Kilnamanagh, is inviting applications for 2 x Fixed Term Teaching Posts commencing in the upcoming school year (26/27). These are exceptional teaching posts above our class allocation. This is a great opportunity to join a highly supportive and dedicated school community committed to meeting the needs of children and young people with autism and complex needs.
Our school caters for students aged 4–18 years and provides a nurturing, child-centred learning environment where communication, regulation, independence and community participation are central to the curriculum.
The school currently comprises:
7 Teachers
25 SNAs
Board certified Behaviour Analyst
Administrative Principal and Deputy Principal
Abacas Special School has strong links within the Kilnamanagh community, and students regularly access the local community as part of their educational programme and life skills development.
These posts are fixed term initially and are likely to continue.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Be registered with the Teaching Council
Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Demonstrate initiative, flexibility and professionalism
Adopt a calm, low-arousal approach to supporting students
Follow and implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans
Lead and collaborate with experienced and highly trained SNAs
Create engaging, inclusive and supportive learning environments
Show commitment to meeting the complex educational and care needs of students with autism
Experience in a special school setting is a distinct advantage.
