Eolas Breise:
Goatstown Educate Together Secondary School is located on the Goatstown Road in Dublin 14, D14X0A9. We are located on our permanent site and planning permission was recently awarded by Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council for the development of a large, modern campus that will accommodate a 1,000 learner secondary school and a 400 learner primary school for our sister school Goatstown Educate Together National School. This project is driven by a strategy to provide Dublin 14 with an inclusive, multi denominational, co-educational experience, rooted in the values of equality and democracy. An environment where the learner is at the centre of the experience at all times.
As a school committed to inclusive practice, we adopt a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach across all classrooms. All teachers are expected to plan and deliver learning experiences that are accessible, engaging and appropriately challenging for the full range of learners in mixed-ability settings. A willingness to contribute to Team Teaching and in-class support is essential, as is the ability to differentiate effectively and respond to diverse learner needs through high-quality classroom practice.
We are seeking a teacher of Junior Cycle Science and Senior Cycle Chemistry to join our team. We currently have two fully equipped science labs and preparatory room and the right candidate will join a highly effective dynamic team that is collaborative and have achieved excellent results in Junior Cycle state examinations to date.
There is a wonderful culture in our school, based on Kindness, Creativity and Effort. This culture is supported by our Restorative Practice (RP) values and RP training will be provided to all new staff. Strong areas in the school include our Digital Strategy Team, and we view technology as an opportunity to unlock learning and deepen understanding at the right time in the right moment. Prospective candidates will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of Digital Learning methods alongside a healthy respect for Analog teaching methods.
Sport, Music and Creativity are also strong areas in the school. There is a yearly musical, a variety of team sports/fixtures and other extra and cocurricular activities such as photography, chess and games club that aim to support that inclusive environment of “success for all”. New ideas for more clubs and teams would be most welcome, as we see these clubs as vital to developing relationships and the holistic environment.
If you are interested in joining our team please provide a CV, evidence of your teaching council registration and a cover letter to recruitment@goatstownetss.ie. In your cover letter, please discuss how your experience, qualifications and personal teaching philosophy can contribute to our vision of “success for all learners” at Goatstown ETSS.
This position is available subject to the sanction and conditions of the Department of Education & Youth and the Director of Redeployment. Short-listing may apply.
