The Board of Management of Brideswell National School invites applications for the position of Principal Teacher. This is a Teaching Principal position.
Brideswell National School is a mixed Catholic Primary School under the patronage of the Diocese of Elphin. There are currently 68 pupils enrolled, with an projected enrolment of 73 for September 26.
It has three mainstream class teachers, a full time Special Education Teacher, a Shared Special Education Teacher and 1 Special Needs Assistant position.
The school is currently at stage 2b of the building process which includes a revamp of the exsisting school building and the addiition of two Special ASD classes.
The roles and responsibilities for the post are set out in the four domains of Leadership and Management as specified in DoE Circular 0044/2019, Chapter 4.
1. Leading Teaching and Learning.
2. Managing the Organisation.
3. Leading School Development.
4. Developing Leadership Capacity.
Applicants for this position should demonstrate:
• An understanding of and commitment to the Catholic ethos of Brideswell N.S. and an ability to support and promote school and parish links.
• Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships with staff members, Board of Management, parents and guardians and the wider school community.
• An excellent level of understanding and knowledge of school leadership, management and administration in a primary school.
• A commitment to shared leadership and a willingness to delegate and develop leadership capacity and empower others.
• Excellent people management and communication skills.
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a range of teaching experience within a primary school.
• Understanding and knowledge of the requirements associated with the provision of Special Education Needs, inclusion and diversity.
• A commitment to ongoing Professional Development.
•The ability to foster links with the local community.
The appointment will be subject to current vetting requirements and occupational health screening.
