Scoil Naomh Mhuire is a vibrant and progressive 3 teacher Rural DEIS School situated in the village of Ballyhahill, Co Limerick, on an extensive, attractive and well maintained school campus which includes a playing pitch and PE Hall/General Purpose Room.
The school has a staff of 2 Mainstream Class Teachers, 1 Special Education Teacher and 1 Special Needs Assistant.
Scoil Mhuire has a highly supportive Parents Association and strong links with the Parish Community, local clubs and musical groups.
The Board of Management of Scoil Naomh Mhuire invites applications for the position of Principal Teacher initially deployed in a Special Education Teaching capacity.
Applicants must hold a recognised certificate to teach religion in the Republic of Ireland along with an understanding of, and commitment to, the ethos of a Catholic Primary School.

The essential roles and responsibilities of the post of Principal Teacher are determined by the 4 Domains of Leadership and Management as set out in Chapter 4 of DES Circular 0044/2019:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
Eligibility Criteria for this position are also as set out in Chapter 4 of DES Circular 44/2019.

In addition, the following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
Knowledge, understanding and capacity to successfully manage the administrative and teaching duties of a school principal.
A full commitment to child centred primary education.
An in-depth knowledge of the primary school curriculum, along with a broad range of teaching experience including experience of teaching multi-grade classes.
A commitment to, and evidence of, continuing and relevant professional development.
Excellent class management, people management and inter-personal skills.
Proven ability to work as a team leader and team member.
Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload.
Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school-based initiatives and projects; (e.g. Universal Design for Learning, Creative Schools, BLAST, Curious Minds, Say Yes to Modern Languages, Active Schools, STEM Initiatives, Seachtain na Gaeilge, Heritage in Schools, Literacy Projects).
A strong commitment to fostering positive home-school-community links and activities.
Experience of preparing children for the Sacraments of First Penance, First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation.
A keen interest in Irish Music and Culture.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting a variety of Extra-Curricular Activities (eg Music, Sport, Drama, The Arts and STEM) among the school pupils.
An understanding and competency in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
A thorough knowledge of the “Bí Cineálta” Anti-Bullying Programme for Primary Schools.
The Principal will also be the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) for Child Protection purposes and must be fully familiar with current Child Protection Requirements and Guidelines.
