An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

The route takes from 2 to 3 hours daily (1 to 1.5 hours each way) to transport children with autism to our school. Applicants would need to be available in the morning before school and after school. The current hourly rate, set by the Department of Education, is €15.66 per hour. Duties will include escorting children to and from St Mary, assisting children to board and alight safely from the school transport, ensuring that all children are seated with appropriate straps and harnesses where provided and ensuring that each pupil is received by some responsible person at the set down point. Previous experience working with children with special needs would be an advantage but is not essential. All Bus Escort will have to be Garda vetted by the school.
