The Board of Management of St Colman's NS Cappagh invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the permanent position of Principal Teacher.

St Colman's NS Cappagh is a mainstream, co-educational school under the patronage of the Catholic Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin. The school has 4 mainstream classes and 2 SET teachers. There is a current enrolment of 97 pupils. The staff consists of 6 teachers (including Principal) , 2 SNAs, a part-time secretary and cleaner.

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
• An understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic primary school.
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience.
• A good working knowledge of special education needs and of inclusion and diversity in education.
• Excellent people management and communication skills.
• A clear vision of how to lead quality teaching and learning and an understanding of the dual role of the teaching principal.
• A strong commitment to work collaboratively and foster relationships with all staff members, Board of Management, parents, guardians and the wider school community.
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school-based initiatives.
• Knowledge and capacity to successfully lead and administer a school.

The Principal Teacher is the Special Education Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year and is entitled to one Release Day for administrative duties per week.

The criteria for interview will be based on Looking at Our Schools 2022 and the following four domains-
1.Leading learning and teaching
2.Managing the Organisation
3.Leading school development
4.Developing leadership capacity

Candidates must:
*Be fully registered with the Teaching Council
*Have at least 5 years recognised primary teaching experience
*Comply with the eligibility criteria for principalship as set out in Circular 44/2019 from the Department of Education
