The Board of Management of Carnane N.S., Carnane, Fedamore, Limerick (Roll No 09132P, Eircode V35V520) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the permanent position of Principal Teacher.
Carnane N.S. is a mainstream, co-educational school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Limerick.
The current enrolment is 30 pupils. There are two mainstream Classroom Teachers, two Special Education Teachers, three SNAs, and a part-time secretary.
This is a permanent Principal position appointed through open competition in line with Circular 0044/2019.
The appointment is subject to references and current vetting requirements.

The ideal candidate will:
1. Lead teaching and learning;
2. Manage the organisation;
3. Lead school development;
4. Develop leadership capacity.

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
• An understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic primary school.
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience.
• Excellent people management and communication skills.
• A clear vision of how to lead quality teaching and learning and an understanding of the dual role of the teaching principal.
• A strong commitment to work collaboratively and foster relationships with all staff members, Board of Management, parents, guardians and the wider school community.
• A willingness and ability to work in partnership with external agencies.
• Proven leadership skills with the knowledge and capacity to successfully lead and administer a school.
• A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and of inclusion and diversity in education.
• A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant professional development.
• Previous experience in policy formation and development.
• Experience in the development, implementation operation and evaluation of innovative school based initiatives.

The Principal Teacher is a Special Education Teacher and is entitled to one Release Day for administrative duties per week.
