Applicants must have the minimum qualifications as set out by the Department of Education . Additional qualifications in Special education are highly advantageous .The ideal candidate will be compassionate and committed with a strong work ethic and an ability to function as part of a team .Excellent communication skills ,an understanding of school life , flexibility and a willingness to to engage in ongoing professional development are essential.
Knowledge and experience of working with children with complex needs ,challenging behaviours, intimate care needs , communication difficulties and autism .
Demonstrated interest in supporting autistic students with complex needs.
It would also be desirable to have experience of supporting the completion of personal pupil plans and care plans . Familiarity with the maintenance of low arousal environments and positive behaviour management approaches.
Experience in a school setting and confidence using digital technologies is also desirable.
A high level of discretion and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality is also required.
