This vacancy is for 2 x fixed term 'exceptional teaching posts' to work with individual students who require additional support. These posts have been sanctioned for the 25/26 school year and are expected to continue into 26/27 subject to review.
Abacas Special School is a school for pupils aged 4-18 years of age with a diagnosis of autism and complex needs. Abacas is evidence-based and implements individualised educational and behavioural programmes for all pupils. Abacas follows the primary school curriculum and has also adopted the L1LP and L2LP Junior Cycle curricula for pupils of secondary school age.
The successful applicant will work closely alongside a team of highly experienced SNAs, an onsite behaviour practitioner as well as external visiting professionals, to deliver an individualised evidence-based educational programme.
The successful applicant will have significant experience teaching in a similar setting. Excellent interpersonal, communication and team skills are essential. Experience with implementing positive behaviour management and knowledge of PECS, Lámh, assistive communication technologies, TEACCH and the L1LP and L2LP Junior Cycle curricula would be a distinct advantage.
