About the Role:
This is part-time, temporary position.
A reliable and conscientious individual is required to join the Gaelscoil Sáirséal community as a Caretaker.
As a vital member of our team, you will ensure the school grounds, classrooms, and facilities are well-maintained and secure.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance:
Oversee the maintenance and repair of school facilities,
including minor repairs, basic carpentry, upkeep of paintwork, and general upkeep to ensure that furniture, equipment and fittings are maintained to a high standard both inside and outside;
contacting and organising trades to visit the school if required, i.e. plumber, electrician, blinds company etc.
Cleaning:
Perform daily cleaning and sanitising duties in classrooms, restrooms, and communal areas, ensuring that there is a adequate supply of cleaning supplies etc. in the store room.
Support Staff:
Liaise with cleaners, landscapers, tradespersons, teachers and administrative staff to ensure a safe, clean, and well-organised environment for all,
planning larger maintenance projects with the Principal and other professionals and assisting with their delivery;
Security:
ensuring that the premises are secure at all times, opening and closing of the school/general security related duties, being a keyholder/contact for security company outside of school times;
From time to time, the successful applicant may be required to work outside normal school hours to safely provide maintenance, to make facilities available and/or to respond to alarm activations.
What We’re Looking For:
• experience in general maintenance, DIY and ground-keeping skills
• a good understanding of caretaking duties.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Ability to work independently, show initiative and manage time effectively. A clear understanding of Health & Safety is also important.
• Friendly and approachable, with a genuine interest in contributing to a positive school environment.
• Understanding the importance of confidentiality and compliance with Child Safeguarding Policy and Health and Safety.
- Previous experience in a caretaker, maintenance, or facilities role is advantageous. An understanding of cleaning methods, materials and equipment is advantageous.
