An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

1. An excellent understanding of the role of the Special Needs Assistant, as per Circular 30/2014 from the Department of Education and NCSE toolkit
2. An awareness of how to support pupils with Autism, epilepsy, physical needs and challenging behaviour would be beneficial
3. An understanding of the importance of flexibility and teamwork within the school setting
4. An ongoing commitment to availing of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.
