Our Lady's Boys' National School is a vertical mainstream school with two special classes under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin. We are an inclusive and diverse and happy school community.
We are currently inviting applications for the position of Deputy Principal. This is a permanent full time position.
In accordance with circular 0044/2019 the Deputy Principal will support the Principal in the day-to-day management of the school, co-operate with the Principal in the fulfilment of the Principal’s role, will act or deputise as the Principal in the absence of the Principal and will work in partnership with the Principal to ensure the effective leadership and management of the school. The Deputy Principal will work very closely with the Principal to ensure a continuing high standard of teaching and learning in the school.
Working as part of the school’s Leadership and Management Team, the Deputy Principal will play a key role in fostering a culture of trust, respect, and confidentiality within the school community. As the needs of the school community continue to evolve, the distribution of duties within the Leadership and Management Team may be reviewed and adjusted accordingly to ensure the ongoing effective leadership and operation of the school.
Applications are invited from candidates who are fully registered with the Teaching Council and have a minimum of five years of recognised teaching service, at least two of which must have been in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.
The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019 as follows:
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
Shortlisting and the interview process will be based on the 4 domains.
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
1. A strong commitment to upholding and promoting the Catholic ethos of the school.
2. Demonstrated capacity and knowledge of teaching in the area of Special Educational Needs, with particular emphasis on knowledge of students presenting with ASD.
3. Demonstrated leadership skills, including experience in policy development and implementation, effective planning and organisation, good communication, and effective resource management.
4. Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
5. A thorough understanding of the School Self-Evaluation (SSE) process and experience with school improvement initiatives from planning through to implementation.
6. Evidence of a strong commitment to continuous professional development.
7. Willingness and ability to partake in mentoring programmes and initiatives.

• Satisfactory references
• Current and continuing Teaching Council registration
• Current Garda Vetting requirements
• Occupational Health screening
