Eolas Breise:
This is a part-time (0.5 post of 16 hrs per week) SERC SNA post, attached to an individual student with complex needs in an Autism class. This post is subject to NCSE and SENO yearly review.
We are seeking a calm, kind and hardworking colleague who will work well in a team. Criteria are as follows:
1. Qualifications
- The minimum qualification necessary for appointment as a Special Needs Assistant as per DES Circular 51/2019.
- Additional qualifications in Special Needs care, Education, including Autism are highly advantageous.
- Additional relevant qualifications such as First Aid, Behaviour Support, PECS is desirable
2. Experience
- Experience of working with children with Autism, Global Delay, Sensory Processing Disorder and intimate care needs is highly desirable.
3. Skills
- personal values that align with the school's inclusive ethos
- excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- flexibility and ability to use initiative
Candidates should be familiar with The Autism Good Practice Guidance for Schools - Indicators of Effective Practice and Autism Good Practice Guidance for Schools - Supporting Children and Young People.
