St. John’s National School is a Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Achonry.
St. John’s National School is a co-educational vertical mainstream school with 3 teaching posts.
Recruitment and appointment procedures in accordance with Circular 0044/2019, Chapter 4.
The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019: 1. Leading Teaching and Learning 2. Managing the Organisation 3. Leading School Development 4. Developing Leadership Capacity.
Applicants who qualified after Sept 2011, a recognised certificate to teach Religious Education is required. Applicants who qualified pre-Sept 2011, a recognised qualification to teach Religious Education is desirable.
The following skills, knowledge, experience and competencies are desirable:
An understanding and a commitment to the values, vision and Catholic ethos of St. John’s National School and an ability to support and promote school/parish links
An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a range of teaching experience
An excellent level of understanding and knowledge of school leadership, management and administration in a primary school setting
A proven ability to work collaboratively with all staff members, parents, Board of Management and the wider school community
A comprehension of, and the ability to support, the embedding of digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment
A demonstrable commitment to promoting a variety of extra-curricular activities among the pupils
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with the strong interpersonal skills required to lead and maintain a happy, active, and progressive school community

• Recognised Certificate to teach Religious Education required for applicants qualified after September 2011 and desirable for applicants qualified pre-Sept 2011
