The panel will remain in place until 01 September 2025 and will be used to fill the advertise positions.

• Be serving as a teacher in a recognised school in Ireland (or be on secondment or career break from such a position).
1 Language 1 (L1) is the language designated as the pupil’s dominant language from Nursery year 1 up to the Baccalaureate. Language 2 (L2) is the language designated as the pupil’s second language (English, French or German) from Primary 1 up to the Baccalaureate.
2 Human Sciences is an integrated approach to the humanities, that includes the core subjects Geography and History taught in year 1 to year 3 of the secondary cycle. Additional pre-requisites for secondary seconded posts:
Applicants for secondment to the ES system undergo a separate oral language assessment in a vehicular language (French or German) or host country language in which the European School is located.
Knowledge of the language of the country in the place of employment is particularly desirable. Applicants are requested to indicate their general level of spoken competence in their chosen language as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The three levels referenced in the CEFR are basic user, independent user and proficient user. Applicants will be assessed according to the level they have indicated on their application form. For appointment to a European School, a basic spoken competence in the candidate’s selected language is usually expected. However, if a candidate excels in every other respect at interview and commits to learning a vehicular or the host country language during their secondment to the school, that will be looked upon favourably.
Salary, allowances, pension and secondment term:
Teachers receive a salary paid by the Department of Education that is pensionable under the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. A European salary paid by the European Schools supplements this. Details of remuneration and allowances for teachers are available on the European Schools’ website https://www.eursc.eu/en.
Each seconded teacher position in the European Schools is a secondment for a maximum term of nine years.
