Essential Requirements:
• Candidates must have experience working as an SNA in an urban classroom setting with pupils with diverse needs, including Autism, Speech and Language Difficulties, ADHD, Challenging Behaviours, and Complex Needs.
• Experience assisting with wheelchair mobility, toileting (lifting & hoisting), and intimate care needs.
• A strong understanding of the role of an SNA in supporting students with additional needs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
• Experience with the administration of medication.
• Additional relevant qualifications in areas such as First Aid, Manual Handling, Positive Behaviour Support, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) support.
• Training in or experience with assistive technologies to support learning.
• Proof of continued relevant CPD
• Experience of working in a DEIS Band 1 school
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing in-class support to students with additional needs, as directed by the class teacher and/or in school management team.
• Assisting with the care and well-being of students, including mobility and personal care needs.
• Supporting students in social integration and participation in school activities, including on-yard integration activities with pupils of all abilities.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff to best support the individual needs of students.
• Candidates must be willing to undertake CPD courses which relate to the needs of the children and school.
A willingness to work in the Summer Based Programme (2 weeks in June/July) is desirable.
The initial duties of the posts may change according to the care needs of the pupils and school.
SNAs are required to work 72 Croke Park hours outside of school time.
Interested candidates should submit the following:
• A cover letter outlining their suitability for the role
• A current Curriculum Vitae (CV) including relevant qualifications and experience.
• Contact details for at least two referees.
• Applicants seeking redeployment must furnish a certified copy of the completed PF1 Form with their application.
Candidates are required to have minimum qualifications as set out by the DES Circular 0051/2019. All appointments are subject to successful completion of Garda Vetting procedure, Occupational Health Screening and completion of the online Túsla Child Safeguarding training.
