An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

St. Michael's House Special National School Skerries is a school for pupils/students with a Moderate General Learning Disability and multiple disabilities including Autism, ADHD, Down
Syndrome, hearing/visual impairments and complex needs.

There is administrative Principal, an administrative Deputy Principal, 5 class teachers (2 primary, 3 senior) and 19 Special Needs Assistants (SNAs) in the school. The school caters for children from 5 to 18 years of age.

This position is for a class called Primary 2: Pupils aged 9 to 12. There are 3 SNAs attached to this class of 6 pupils.


Essential Criteria:
Applicants must be registered with the Teaching Council. This can be either with Primary or Secondary Teacher qualifications, or other Routes. Experience teaching in a special education setting/special class and familiarity with technology is preferred.

Desirable Criteria:
Building positive relationships with students/pupils and their families
Experience working with behaviours of concerns
Experience devising IEPs
Experience dealing with children with complex needs
Experience managing a class team of SNAs
