Eolas Breise:
We have 1 Standard SNA Full Day post available (32 hours per week). The successful candidates will be involved in supporting children in both our mainstream classes and two ASD classes.
Duties of the post are as outlined in the Department of Education Skills 0030/2014 and other relevant circulars. The posts are subject to continued NCSE allocation and SENO review.
Applicants must demonstrate the specific competencies and requirements to meet the special educational and care needs of children.
Candidates are required to have minimum qualifications as set out by the DES Circular 0051/2019, though having Fetac Level 5/6 in SEN or other relevant qualifications in areas such as First Aid certification, Lamh, ICT is desirable.
Candidates must be able to work well as part of a team, be flexible, display strong work ethic, demonstrate a willingness to avail of further training, respect the ethos of the school and willing to work under the direction of the class teachers and school Principal.
Applicants should have experience and relevant qualifications in working with children with ASD, ADHD, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and children with behavioural needs.
Successful candidates will be expected to complete 72 hours (as per DES Circular 71/2011) throughout the year
Desirable skills include
• willingness to undertake courses which relate to the needs of the children and of the school
• suitability to the school and the needs of the pupils in the school
• experience of working in a DEIS school setting.
• experience in a Special Class setting or with pupils with ASD
• experience of working with pupils with autism and other special educational needs
Appointment is subject to current Garda vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening and completion of the online Túsla Child Safeguarding training.
The school also wishes to establish a Substitute panel of suitable SNAs to cover staff absences.
