St. Mary’s N.S., is a co-educational, urban DEIS band 2 primary school, situated in
the town of Templemore, Co. Tipperary. This school has a Church of Ireland Ethos
and is under the Patronage of the Church of Ireland Bishop of Cashel, Ferns and
Ossory, the Right Reverend Adrian Wilkinson.
The present teaching staff comprises of 2 mainstream class teachers, including the
Principal, 1 fulltime Special Education Teacher and 1 part-time SNA.
Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria of being fully registered under Route 1
(Primary) with the Teaching Council and of having 5 years recognised teaching
service, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of
Ireland.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
A commitment to promote the ethos of the school and to develop and support
school-parish links.
Proven evidence of strong leadership skills with experience in a similar role in
a multi-grade environment.
An ability to work as part of a team, to manage and work collaboratively with
all staff members and a proven aptitude in fostering leadership skills in others.
An ability and commitment to work in partnership with the Board of
Management and the Deputy Principal in furthering the aims of the school.
Organisational capabilities in managing school resources with strong
administrative skills and proven capacity for managing school finances.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to foster
positive relationships with pupils, parents, all staff, the Board of Management
and the wider school community.
Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of
innovative school-based initiatives, with a strong commitment to leading,
teaching and learning.
An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum, including policy
development and School Self-Evaluation.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities for this position relate to the four domains of
Leadership and Management, taken from ‘Looking at Our School, 2022: A Quality
Framework for Primary Schools and Special Schools.’
