We are looking for a new English Language Tutor to join our Castel Education teaching team, part of our ONCAMPUS Ireland portfolio.
The successful applicant will contribute to the teaching and learning of students within the International Medical Commencement Programme (IMCP) with the ultimate goal of securing academic success for all students.
The International Medical Commencement Programme (IMCP) is a one-year programme providing international high school graduates with a pathway to studying Medicine or Allied Health at several universities around Ireland. Run in partnership between Castel Education, the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI), and Munster Technological University (MTU), the programme comprises science and language modules.
The role is based in Tralee, Ireland on a full-time, fixed-term contract basis - Mon 16 September 2024 to Fri April 25 2025.
Salary: 39,900 - 40,741 per annum
Key activities & responsibilities as an English Language Tutor:
To prepare, teach and assess students on the IMCP.
To act as class teacher as assigned.
To provide educational and consultative support to students in their learning activities.
To provide appropriate input to existing and new course developments if required, including materials development.
To deliver online English language tuition to medical professionals as part of our postgraduate programme.
To participate in committees appropriate to their courses.
To maintain appropriate records and make available information as required.
To participate in development, implementation and maintenance of quality assurance arrangements as required.
To liaise with the appropriate partner staff.
To advise on Castel’s English language strategies as required.
To attend and participate in weekly meetings with the teaching team.
To engage in and contribute to Castel’s staff development sessions.
Aspects we will be looking for:
Undergraduate degree. (Essential). A focus on languages/education is desirable but not essential.
English teaching qualification, e.g., Cambridge CELTA. (Essential)
A minimum of 2 years’ experience preparing students for IELTS, Cambridge or other high stakes English Language exams. (Essential)
Demonstrable cross-cultural awareness and understanding. (Essential)
IELTS preparation experience. (Highly desirable)
Experience preparing candidates for the Occupational English Test (OET). (Desirable)
Excellent record-keeping and punctuality.
Adaptability and creativity.
Ability to work well within a team.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently when needed.
Professional at all times.
Desire to influence and promote a positive organisational culture.
