Applications are invited for the position of Principal at St. Joseph’s N.S., a Catholic school under the patronage of the Bishop of Killala.
The school comprises of 9 mainstream classes and 3 ASD Special Classes.
Applicants must be registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland (Route 1- Primary), be fully Garda vetted and have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a recognised primary school in Ireland.
The roles and responsibilities of this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
In addition, the following skills are desirable:
Proven leadership skills, including policy development and implementation and prioritising, planning and organising
Organisational capabilities in managing school resources
An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and previous teaching experience across a range of classes
Ability to manage and work collaboratively with all staff members and the Board of Management.
An ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, the Board of Management and wider school community.
Understanding and knowledge of Special Educational Needs, inclusion and diversity in education
An understanding and a commitment to the school’s Catholic ethos and an ability to support and promote school / Parish links
Evidence of the leadership skills associated with all aspects of school life with particular reference to DEIS, school self-evaluation and curricular development.
Evidence of commitment to relevant and ongoing continuing professional development.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills and a proven capacity in successfully leading others.
