The Board of Management of St.Kevin’s G.N.S. invites applications for the position of Deputy Principal. This is a permanent position in a teaching capacity that will be appointed by open competition. Our school has a Catholic ethos and operates under the patronage of Archbishop Dermot Farrell.

To be eligible for consideration, candidates:
- must be fully registered with the Teaching Council under Route 1 - Primary
- must have a minimum of five years teaching experience, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.

Specific areas of Responsibilities Associated with this Post.

• Deputy Designated Liaison Person
• Pupil discipline.
• Primary Language Curriculum.
• To assist the Principal in the day to day running of the school.
• To meet with the Principal on a regular basis in relation to post duties, and to
attend in- school management meetings.
• To Deputise for the Principal in her absence.
• To lead and actively support the School Self-Evaluation Process.
• To lead and co-ordinate teams of teachers in curriculum areas and in school
policy development.
• To compile and make available for distribution to staff inventories of equipment
associated with their area of responsibility.
• To liaise with the Principal on a calendar of events associated with their areas of
responsibility.
• To update staff at Staff meetings on developments/issues/events associated with t
their areas of responsibility.
• To formally report on their post of responsibility activities to the Board of
Management at least once annually.
• To act in line with the terms of Circular 0070/2018 or subsequent relevant
circulars.
• To be extra vigilant in the monitoring of discipline and work standards and to be
proactive in the promotion of positive pupil behaviour

The promotion of shared leadership and the continued valuing of staff support is a key objective of the Board of Management.
