Teideal:
SECONDARY TEACHER SECONDMENT POSTS IN THE EUROPEAN SCHOOLS
Cur síos:
The Department of Education invites applications from suitably qualified teachers who are fully registered with the Teaching Council, for secondment to the following European School posts commencing 01 September, 2024.

At the conclusion of the interview process, a panel of successful applicants will be created based on the ranking of applicants. The positions advertised below will be offered according to this ranking. The panel will continue to exist until the 1st of September, 2024 and will be used to fill the advertised positions.

Secondary Teacher Secondments:

Mol: Irish and Music or Irish and Art or Irish and PE or Irish and English (L1 & L2)

Frankfurt: Irish and English (L1 & L2)

Luxembourg 1: Irish and English (L1 & L2)

Candidates for Secondary Teacher Seconded Post must:
• Have a recognised primary degree in the relevant subject discipline(s)
• Have a recognised teaching qualification
• Have at least three years’ satisfactory service as a mainstream class teacher subsequent to full registration with the Teaching Council
• Be serving as a teacher in a recognised school in Ireland (or be on secondment or career break from such a position).

Additional pre-requisites for secondary seconded posts:

Applicants for secondment to the ES system undergo a separate oral language assessment in a vehicular language (French or German) or host country language in which the school is located. Knowledge of the language of the place of employment is particularly desirable. Applicants are asked to indicate their general level of spoken competence in their chosen language as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR). The three levels referenced in the CEFR are basic user, independent user and proficient user. Applicants will be assessed according to the level they have indicated. For appointment to a European School, a basic spoken competence in the candidate’s selected language is usually expected. However, if a candidate excels in every other respect at interview and commits to learning a vehicular or the host country language during their secondment to the school that will be looked upon favourably.

Salary, allowances, pension and secondment term:

Teachers receive a salary paid by the Department of Education, pensionable under the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. A European salary paid by the European Schools supplements this. Details of remuneration and allowances for teachers are available on the European Schools’ website www.eursc.eu. Each post is a secondment for a maximum term of nine years.
